How to apply for the Kenya visa, step by step

Standard eTA
Check the passport exemption
Select the passport in the official eligibility table. Use the exemption list for its allowed stay.
Complete the application
Enter the traveller’s details and itinerary, then upload the passport, photograph and accommodation or host evidence.
Review and pay
Correct errors before submitting. Pay with an accepted card; fees are non-refundable, including after refusal.
Wait for approval
Travel only after approval. Show the approval PDF printed, on your phone or in the official app at departure and arrival.

- Duty-free allowance

- Foreign nationals resident for more than 90 days must register, subject to published exemptions. The alien-card process includes in-person fingerprints.
- Leaving the country
- Apply for any extension before the admitted stay expires. Departure includes immigration examination and an exit stamp.

Do Egyptians need a Kenya travel authorisation?
No, for a visit of up to 60 days under the published passport exemption.
Does Gulf residence exempt me?
GCC residence is not a listed exemption. Check your passport and any Kenyan residence or permit exemption.
How much is the Kenya eTA?
Standard USD 30; transit USD 20; payment charges are additional. Expedited processing adds USD 100.
How early should I apply?
The usual processing period is 3 working days but can be longer. The portal recommends applying at least 2 weeks before travel.
Can I show approval on my phone?
Yes. Show the approved PDF on your phone, in the official app or as a printout.
Does my baby need a separate application?
Yes, unless an exemption applies. A parent, guardian or accompanying adult completes the child’s application.
Is 90-day validity the allowed stay?
No. The standard authorisation must be used within 90 days of issue; the immigration officer grants the stay at entry.
Do I need permission for an airport connection?
Not if you remain within the airport transit area. To leave the airport, follow your entry rule or eligible transit product.
Can I recover the fee after refusal?
No. Submitted application fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another traveller.
