- Visa/Mastercard on evisa.mfa.ir (international cards only). Some foreign-issued cards may be declined; check accepted cards before paying.
- Transit
- Transit visa (Transit Visa C) required for most nationalities transiting through Iranian airports. Some nationalities exempt. Duration up to 72 hours airside. US/UK/CA passport holders effectively cannot transit independently. Source: evisa.mfa.ir.
- Hotel booking
- Full itinerary required — US/UK/CA nationals must book organized tour covering entire stay. Other nationalities: hotels or host invitation letter covering full stay. Source: evisa.mfa.ir + Iran MFA.
- Invitation letter
- US/UK/Canada nationals: mandatory organized tour with licensed Iranian guide — LOI from authorized Iranian travel agency required. Other nationalities: no invitation letter needed for standard eVisa at evisa.mfa.ir. Source: Iran MFA official + US Embassy advisory (2026).
