- eSIM availability
- Hotlink offers an eSIM signup flow with passport and facial identity checks. Device and plan compatibility still apply.
- Cash declaration
- Declare cash and bearer instruments at USD 10000 equivalent or more pending confirmation: the general page includes equality, while the January 2025 leaflet says exceeding. Ringgit above the threshold also needs prior central-bank permission. Sources differ; confirm with the embassy or your airline.
- Duty-free allowance
- Published personal allowances include 1 litre of alcoholic drink, 3 new garments, 1 new pair of shoes, food up to MYR 150, and other eligible goods up to MYR 1000 by air or MYR 500 by other transport. Product exclusions and conditions apply.
- Medicines
- The health ministry permits up to 1 month of personal or accompanying immediate-family medication. Keep original packaging and an English prescription or translation stating medicine, dose and quantity; declare controlled medicines. Customs also lists a permit requirement for prescription medicines, so confirm the product-specific permit before travel.
- Overstaying
- Overstay can lead to a fine and detention. Published Immigration pages disagree on whether MYR 10000 is a minimum or maximum court fine; no per-day calculator is justified. The compounding schedule separately gives a maximum of MYR 3000. Sources differ; confirm with the embassy or your airline.
- Leaving the country
- Keep the entry pass and leave by its expiry. Carry the passport for travel between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah or Sarawak; British guidance describes additional immigration checks and stamps.
