Cash declaration
Foreign cash can be brought in under customs procedures. On exit, up to USD 10000 uses oral declaration; USD 10000–50000 needs written declaration and prior import proof. AZN 20000 or more requires written declaration in either direction.
Duty-free allowance
For adults aged 18 or more, the published monthly allowance includes 1.5 litres of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, 20 g of gold jewellery and 0.5 carat of diamonds. Personal goods limits and declaration rules still apply.
Medicines
Medicines in quantities necessary for personal use are exempt from customs duty. This does not establish permission for every controlled medicine; confirm the specific product with Customs.
Overstaying
British visitor guidance states AZN 300–400 for overstay and says a departure letter may be needed. A traveller directed to leave may have 48 hours; contact Migration Service.
Registration after arrival

Frequently asked questions

Can Egyptians get the Azerbaijan electronic visa?
Egypt is not on the current ASAN ordinary-passport list. Use a consular tourist visa unless a residence or other documented exception applies.
How much is the Azerbaijan tourist visa?
The standard ASAN total is USD 29: USD 20 state fee plus USD 9 service fee. The general single-entry consular fee is USD 20, with nationality exceptions and possible centre charges.
Can Gulf residents get a visa at Baku airport?
A conditional airport route exists. Use residence valid more than 6 months. Passport exclusions and an accompanying-citizen condition may apply. Sources differ; confirm with the embassy or your airline.
Is an electronic visa on my phone enough?
Print the approved electronic visa and present it with the same passport used for the application.
How long does the ASAN visa take?
Standard processing is 3 working days; urgent processing is 3 hours, including weekends and holidays. Processing does not guarantee approval.
Can I stay for the full 90-day visa validity?
No. A standard ASAN visa is valid for 90 days but permits a stay of up to 30 days and only a single entry.
Do I need a visa for an airport connection?
No visa is needed if you remain in the international transit area. If you pass immigration, the applicable entry or transit-visa rules apply.
Do Saudis have unlimited visa-free visits?
The temporary exemption allows 3 visits from 2026-02-15 through 2027-02-15, each up to 30 days. A valid visa is needed for the 4th entry.
Do I need to register my accommodation?
Arrange registration by day 10 while conflicting official instructions are clarified. Registration is free; the Migration Service normally states 15 days, with a 30-day rule for Kazakh citizens. Sources differ; confirm with the embassy or your airline.
Can I correct an approved visa?
The FAQ directs you to make a new application for changes. A payment is not refunded after refusal, and a new electronic visa can only be requested after leaving Azerbaijan.
